About The 6821 Quintet
While flowers blossoms, so will the music. Sponsored by The Ryuji Ueno Foundation, The 6821 Quintet has been specifically created for the National Cherry Blossom Festival. 6821 represents the approximate number of miles between Washington, D.C. and Tokyo, and Dr. Ryuji Ueno has founded the quintet as part of his Music-Lab Project. The quintet will perform for only three days in the Washington, D.C. area and hopes to enrich the enjoyment of the annual cherry blossoms for visitors and local communities. To complement the beauty of the famous sakura trees, world-renowned musicians will perform a variety of classical and well known popular songs and pieces. The quintet consists of virtuosic artists, including violinist Mayu Kishima, the leader of the quintet,  from Tokyo, and Michael Djupstrom, Washington Award winning composer and pianist.    Be sure not to miss this rare opportunity to savor the beauty of cherry blossoms, while listening to innovative musical performances by The 6821 Quintet in its world debut.
